Amanchu! Anime to Premiere in July

Amanchu!
Continuing on with the posts about upcoming anime, here’s another one! This is an adaptation of a manga by Kozue Amano, who was also responsible for Aria.
Anyway, Amanchu! follows the everyday lives of a diving club in the city of Itō, located in the Shizuoka prefecture.

Here’s a PV:

Chief director for the anime is Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Aria the Animation). Kenichi Kasai (Honey and Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Bakuman) is directing the series at J.C. Staff, with scripts by Deko Akao (Yes! PreCure 5, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Snow White with the Red Hair). The character designer is Yoko Ito (Love Stage!!).
And then there’s the additional staff members:

  • Art Director: Chikako Shibata (Studio Kanon)
  • Colour Key: Miyuki Ishida
  • Director of Photography: Hidenori Manaka, Shingo Fukuyo
  • Editing: Hitomi Sudō (REAL-T)
  • Music: GONTITI
  • Music Production: Flying Dog

The cast of the show will be announced on April 5th, on a stream on Niconico.

I’m always up for a slice-of-life series, and this will have a focus on diving. I’m hoping that means we’ll get to see some interesting underwater scenery. It always looks amazing in the various documentaries I’ve seen, I’d be interested to see whether it can be captured in anime form. As the title says, Amanchu! is due to air in July, so that’s another summer show to add to my list of ‘things that have piqued my interest’.

Same here. Sexy ladies going on scuba diving adventures. My kind of underwater exploration show.

That mascot does look like something out of Aria.
