The seventh episode of Healin’ Good ♡ PreCure has a character see a connection between Nodoka and the recent appearance of monsters in the town.
In this episode, the sole member of the school’s newspaper club, Michio Masuko, is convinced that Nodoka is the one who has been summoning the monsters that have been appearing in the town recently. As such, he chases after her, determined to get a scoop.
In Yes! PreCure 5, we had Mika Masuko, and then HappinessCharge PreCure gave us Miyo Masuko. Now, we have Michio Masuko – all their names are puns on the Japanese for “mass media” when read in Japanese order by the way. Michio is the first male incarnation of the overenthusiastic journalist, though.
His role in this episode is effectively that of a paparazzo, or a stalker, if you will. Yeah, he doesn’t leave a good impression at all. Also, the fact that he reminds me of my two least favourite season of the franchise certainly doesn’t earn him any points, either…
Out of the seven episodes of Healin’ Good ♡ PreCure we have so far, this one has my vote for being the weakest. It is all because of Michio, who doesn’t exactly go about trying to get a scoop in the most subtle manner. His determined pursuit of Nodoka is kind of unsettling actually.
I would love to say forget about Michio, but he is the character who gets caught up when the enemy shows up. I’ll admit Michio asking the Megabyogen for an interview and completely ignoring Guaiwaru did get a chuckle out of me. That’s about the only positive thing I have to say about Michio, though.
During the usual fight against the monster of the week, Cure Grace uses the power of the Element of Harvests for the first time. It just allows her to make a generic long range attack, no stock footage or anything. Seemed a little odd to me.
The episode ends with Michio revealing another “secret”, but anybody who has been watching the show already knows just how close Nodoka, Chiyu and Hinata are. Besides, that doesn’t interest him.
That brings episode 7 of Healin’ Good ♡ PreCure to an end, and I’m just glad its over. It didn’t offer anything particularly great, so there isn’t all that much I have to say about it. Not every episode is going to be a winner, so I guess its best we get ones like these out of the way early.
Fortunately, seems like things may pick up next time, as we are getting a Chiyu episode. If you liked seeing her doing the high jump here, then you’ll be getting plenty more of that next time. Maybe not quite as successful as she was here, though…
