Rory’s Wii U Game of July 2016

For most of July I had just been sort of waiting to see what games would be released on the Wii U, as I’ve been really undecided on what I should buy for this month. Also, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE has been keeping me occupied…
I’ve left this one until the last minute, choosing an eShop title that was released on the 28th July.
This particular title is a puzzle/platformer that is exclusive to the Wii U. It’s also fairly cheap, so that meant I didn’t have to add any additional funds to my eShop account.
3Souls
Developed by Red Column, 3Souls is a puzzle platformer that takes advantage of the Wii U GamePad. The game is structured in 3 episodes, with only the first currently available. The second and third will be added later as downloadable content.

The game tells the story of 3 Ánimas in the world of Mustland, where the player is able to assist them from the real world.
The Ánimas all possess Souls and wear Masks. Using the GamePad you are able to see the Ánimas’ thoughts and feelings as they explore Mustland. In addition to that, portals that connect the real world to Mustland can be used to offer assistance to the Ánimas – for example, connecting to security cameras in order to see where invisible platforms are located.

Each of the three episodes focuses on one character: Nelesa for the first episode, Nophes for the second and a mysterious third character.

This game also features a co-op mode, with one player in charge of the puzzles and the other in charge of the platforming.

It’s nice to see a game that utilises the GamePad instead of just sticking a map on it. Seeing the Ánimas’ thoughts and feelings, as well as learning about the rules of Mustland makes for some intrigue, and I very much look forward to learning more about the world that Red Column have created.
