Game of the Month: March 2023

Well, this month is certainly not lacking for new games that I’m interested in. On top of hololive’s 4th fes, this is shaping up to be an expensive month for me. Expensive, but fulfilling. Oh, and hololive actually has a connection to one of the games I’ll be featuring here.
First, though, I have like maybe one or two honourable mentions.

Kicking off with the honourable mentions, we have:
Metroid Prime Remastered – Yes, I could’ve featured this last month, but I was waiting for the physical version to be released. It’s nice to have something tangible, you know? Anyways, this remasters the GameCube’s Metroid Prime. It looked incredible on the GameCube, it looks incredible on the Switch. Honestly, pretty much a must buy for Switch owners.

PROJECT ZERO: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse – A remaster of the fourth title in the PROJECT ZERO series, being released outside of Japan for the first time. Girls explore a haunted island from their past, fending off ghosts with the Camera Obscura.

Alice Gear Aegis CS Concerto of Simulatrix – Part visual novel, part 3D arena battler, all cute. Lots of customisation options, too, as well as a cast of 22 characters to choose from. Very reminiscent of Custom Robo Arena or other similar titles, which is why this one has piqued my interest.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon – A game featuring Bayonetta long before she was ever known as Bayonetta. Cereza ventures through the Avalon Forest, accompanied by her first demon, Cheshire. You control both in order to get through the forest in order to save Cereza’s mother.

OK, so I actually had four honourable mentions. That doesn’t even cover games that are coming out in the last week or so of the month, but that’s something I’ll be worrying about next month. For now, the main game I want to feature for March is:

Little Witch Nobeta

A game in which you take control of a little witch named Nobeta. Little Witch Nobeta is a 3D action shooter, in which the amnesiac Nobeta explores a castle in order to unveil the secret of her past.
Monsters roam the castle, but Nobeta can fight back with her magic. HP, mana and stamina are all things you’ll have to take into consideration when fighting.
Some of the foes Nobeta encounter in the castle might sound very familiar if you happen to follow hololive. Fubuki Shirakami, Noel Shirogane and Polka Omaru all voice characters in the game.

Nobeta will pick up different types of elemental magic as she explores, giving her new options when it comes to combat. She is also able to upgrade her stats, doing things like increasing her HP or stamina, or reducing the time it takes to chant a spell.
There are also a few different costumes that you can unlock by meeting certain conditions within the game. In addition, there are also DLC costumes if you fancy that.

I’ve been looking forward to Little Witch Nobeta for a little while now, and I am very happy that I’ve finally got my hands on it. I even opted for the Limited Edition. I do like seeing games like this released on Switch, gotta show support for them. Very much looking forward to spending even more time with Nobeta.
