Christmas is approaching in the second volume of Moke Yuzuhara’s Adachi and Shimamura manga adaptation, and Adachi is determined to spend the day with Shimamura. If only she could pluck up the courage to actually ask…
This volume contains chapters six through to twelve.Going bowling on the weekend, singing old songs at karaoke – with all the time they’re spending together, Adachi and Shimamura are finding out lots of surprising things about each other. And as the seasons change and Christmas approaches, Adachi’s doing her best to come up with the perfect present for her unsuspecting crush. Can she plan the perfect Christmas date to show Shimamura how much she means to her?
This volume starts with a look back at how Adachi and Shimamura first met, followed by a trip to the gym for Shimamura. Then it gets into all the Christmas planning stuff, with Adachi agonising over asking Shimamura out.
Adachi’s anxiety does not go unnoticed. Shimamura even is able to get a pretty accurate idea of what Adachi may actually be thinking, but writes that idea off. For the time being, anyways. Meanwhile, Adachi is trying to convince herself that there is no particularly special reason for her to ask Shimamura out – and on Christmas, no less. She doesn’t exactly do a good job…
But, hey, it’s fun to see Adachi go into gay panic mode, and of course she’s going to do that quite a bit around Shimamura. Whilst Adachi may be the star of this particular volume, Shimamura does get a pretty interesting couple of chapters. She goes to a gym and encounters someone she would never expect. What may be most surprising is that she ends up having an effect on said person.
Enjoyable stuff from this second volume of the Adachi and Shimamura manga. Seems like the original light novel has got itself a couple of really quite good adaptations – both anime and manga do a good job at capturing the essence of the original.
