Megumi continues to be as jealous of Mami as ever in the second volume of Emi Mitsuki’s Magical Angel Creamy Mami and the Spoiled Princess manga. That drives Megumi to collaborating with someone from her past, in an attempt to get one over on Mami.
This volume contains chapters eight through to fourteen.
Snakes and Angels
Top idol Ayase Megumi’s career is spinning out of control. In an attempt to escape her own personal hell of small-time gigs, she teams up with an old enemy: a paparazzo named Snake Joe. Can they get the scoop on Mami and expose her secrets?!
Lots of Megumi focus in this volume of Magical Angel Creamy Mami and the Spoiled Princess, as various bits of information about her past come to light. We get a couple of hints here and there from Snake Joe, who had his eye set on Megumi in the past. Later on, the story then shows us how Megumi got her start as an idol.
Before that, though, she conspires with Snake Joe in an attempt to quite literally expose Mami. Considering her encounters with Snake Joe in the past were far from pleasant, it’s plain to see that her jealousy of Mami is driving her to take extreme measures.
What doesn’t help is that it seems that Megumi doesn’t really have anybody she can reach out to. Shingo, who she maybe likes a little too much, is far more focused with Mami.
It’s pretty easy to feel a little sympathy for Megumi at times. At other times, she conspires with questionable characters to try and snap questionable photos of a fellow idol. Megumi definitely has a few things she really needs to work out.
She’s definitely more sympathetic in the past arc that starts in this volume, because she has not developed that burning envy of Mami at that point. Pretty interesting to see how it all began for her.
This volume had its ups and downs. It was all right, I suppose.
