Autumn 2021 Anime: First Impressions

The last anime season of 2021 has now started. As usual I have picked out a handful of shows that I shall be watching during the season, and this post is where I shall be sharing my initial impressions of each one.
With that said, let’s see how this season of anime is kicking off.BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!☆PICO FEVER!BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!☆PICO FEVER!Not much to say about this, except that I am very much looking forward to seeing what kind of antics the BanG Dream! girls get up to this time around. First episode was a (re)introduction to the bands, so things will probably kick off proper next time.

Let’s Make a Mug Too 2Let's Make a Mug Too 2It’s the second season of Let’s Make a Mug Too. Another case of not having much to say; first season was enjoyable, and this second one is off to a good start.

Mieruko-chanMieruko-chanAll right, now I can start talking about actually new shows, starting with Mieruko-chan. Was surprised at the lean towards ecchi this show has, but that ain’t putting me off any time soon. Really quite enjoyed this first episode, with the slow build up to the reveal of the horrors that haunt Miko.

PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange~PuraOre! ~Pride of Orange~What happens when you cross an idol show with ice hockey? You get PuraOre ~Pride of Orange~, apparently. First episode seemed fun, and the odd combination of idols and ice hockey seems like it could work. Liked what I saw here.

SELECTION PROJECTSELECTION PROJECTHere’s an idol show that has less ice hockey. First episode served to establish our main group of idols, though the main protagonist wasn’t quite as successful at her audition as everyone else… Hmm. Interested to see what the show will do with that.

Waccha PriMagi!Waccha PriMagi! It was a surprise to see that HIDIVE picked this show up, because previous entries in the Pretty Rhythm series always seemed to get overlooked. Maybe Crunchyroll picking up PreCure had an influence. Anyways, this first episode immediately gives of Maho Girls PreCure vibes, with a girl from a magical world meeting a girl from the human world. Probably won’t be quite as strong with the yuri, though. Still, did enjoy the first episode.

Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Great Mankai ChapterYuki Yuna is a Hero The Great Mankai ChapterThe first episode of the third season of Yuki Yuna is a Hero was amazing. The way it jumped from K-On! to Sabagebu! to Laid-Back Camp put a smile on my face, and then it returned back to being Yuki Yuna is a Hero. So good to have the Hero Club back; this was definitely my favourite premier of this season.

That’s all the shows I’ve started watching for this season. Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Great Mankai Chapter and Mieruko-chan are the ones that impressed me most with their respective first episodes. Seems like this season will be a pretty fun one overall.
