Thoughts on Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles. Volume 3

In the third volume of Naru Narumi’s Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles. manga, Ms. Koizumi eats ramen. Bet you would have never expected that.Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles. Volume 3Ms. Koizumi has taken planes and trains in search of noodles… but never before a mountain pilgrimage, as she ascends the granite slopes of Mt. Tsukuba in search of the ramen restaurant at the summit! And that’s only her first culinary adventure in the tasty volume three, as Misa covets the secret of her beauty (could it be the back fat in her broth?), she dodges pick-up artists in Osaka, and then meets a mysterious older woman who reminds her strangely of a certain obsessive classmate…!

So once again, Ms. Koizumi returns to revel in the delights of ramen, watched closely by Yu, of course. Well, sometimes; seems that Yu knows well enough that she can’t be a constant companion to Ms. Koizumi.
Ms. Koizumi’s travels take her to few different places in Japan, where she indulges in all different types of ramen. She even has plenty of knowledge to share about the ramen from specific regions, going so far as to even teach locals things they never knew about it before.

It also seems that Ms. Koizumi is steadily warming up to Yu, as she willingly stands in line with her for hours, and is even able to help her rediscover a ramen she ate in her childhood. Considering her main motive is generally to eat ramen, these are relatively small things. But hey, it is something at least.

A trip to Osaka also has Ms. Koizumi meet with an older woman who feels very familiar to her. There’s a very good reason for that, and her not being put off seems to indicate good things for Yu. Though her number of acquaintances may increase, Ms. Koizumi is only really interested in one thing – ramen.

That’s what Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles. continues to be all about. There’s a lot of detailed descriptions of ramen to be found in this manga, as well as some history and all that kind of thing. Naru Narumi’s passion for ramen shines through Ms. Koizumi.
Should you ever decide to read this manga, I recommend making sure you eat something first – because it will very likely make you hungry.
