For the first time in 2021, I present to you my regular Game of the Month post. I’ll be keeping things simple here and focusing on only one game – no honourable mentions this time around. That’s, er, probably gonna change by next month, but I’ll worry about that then.
For now, the game I’ll be highlighting here was one that was originally released in 2010, but licensing issues caused it to be delisted four years later. It is back, now, though, and available on many different platforms.Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is a 2D arcade-style beat ’em up inspired by the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World comic book series and movie adaptation.
This complete edition includes all the DLC that was available for the original Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, increasing the roster of playable characters.
It returned to digital storefronts on January 14th, 2021.
The game is a side-scrolling brawler, in which you take control of one of a selection of characters. The roster includes Scott Pilgrim (of course), Ramona Flowers, Knives Chau, Stephen Stills and others.
A multiplayer option is available, so you can team up with friends to brawl your way through hoards of enemies and take on the League of Ramona’s Evil Exes. There is also the option to play online with others, if you so desire.
Besides the story mode, there are also extra game modes: Boss Rush, Survival Horror, Battle Royal and Dodge Ball. Always nice to have a few extra modes to offer a bit of variety.
Whether you missed out on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game the first time around, or just want to get your teeth into a side-scrolling brawler, this game is a pretty good choice. Also might be a wise idea to purchase it whilst it is still available before licensing issues raise their ugly head again…
Mind you, if it’s anything like the first time around, you do have a few years before that’ll happen.
Yup. We have a couple more years before the licensing dorks try to take it off digital stores again. I already have it on PS3 but feel an inexplicable urge to get it again during a good enough discount.
