I was not impressed with the first episode of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, with the way it just jumped deep into the story. Don’t know who was responsible for that decision, but perhaps they should have a think about some things.
Fortunately, it looks like things are far more sensible with the second episode.

Yuna finds herself in a new world with nothing but her bear equipment
This episode of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear should have really been the first. Chapters one to ten of the light novel have been adapted here, with some slight changes. Ten chapters may seem like a lot, but they really short.
This episode is effectively Yuna getting used to a new world, and coming to terms with her new equipment.

Fina
It isn’t too long before we are introduced to an important character: a young girl named Fina. Yuna comes to her rescue when she is attacked by wolves. That’s convenient for Yuna, because Fina is able to explain some details about the world and how it works; such as dismantling monsters.

Yuna with her hood down
Before, I said how I felt that Yuna’s voice was not what I was expecting. Now, I feel it actually fits her just fine. Either I got used to it very quickly, or there was just something off about the entire first episode.
Also, I want to mention the whole “cypress stick” thing. That is almost certainly a reference to a RPG, though I won’t say which one. Perhaps someone will guess.

Yuna accepts reality
For a fair amount of time, Yuna is convinced that she is still in the World Fantasy Online game. However, she soon has to accept reality, but that just means an opportunity to explore a new world.

Deborane tries to pick a fight with Yuna
Looks like Funimation have gone for “Deborane”, as opposed to Seven Seas Entertainment’s “Deboraney”. Not all that different in the long run, but consistency would be nice. Oh well, since I’m talking about the anime, I’ll stick with Deborane.

Yuna got a guild card!
Beside being Yuna finding herself in a new world and meeting Fina, one of the most significant events is when Yuna obtains a guild card. She officially becomes an adventurer, and it’s not long before she sets off on a quest that is slightly more difficult than normal.

Fina agrees to help Yuna with dismantling monsters
Now, that was far more like it. This should have been episode one, of that I have no doubt. Perhaps the whole pre-air thing played an influence in what happened there, but I really don’t see why we couldn’t have just started with this episode.
This is far more what I expected from Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, and I’m happy to see we are more in line with the light novel now. This show may have had a rough start, but its definitely heading in the right direction now.
As soon as I saw this episode I was like “I know this is what the old bean wanted all along”
