Thoughts on I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Volume 2 (Manga)

The second volume of the manga adaptation of Kisetsu Morita’s I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level has trouble arrive right on Azusa’s doorstep with the introduction of the elf Halkara.
It is not Halkara that is the cause of the trouble, but rather the person who pursues her. Following that, a wedding ceremony.
This volume of the Killing Slimes manga contains chapters seven through to twelve.

I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Volume 2 (Manga)

Front cover of the second volume of the I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level manga, featuring Laika and Azusa

The slime-slaying, max-leveled, immortal witch Azusa’s main goal in reincarnation is to lead a laid-back life with her new family of four. But trouble comes knocking on her door when the elf Halkara arrives, seeking sanctuary from the demon Beelzebub… Will Azusa ever find peace?!

This volume of the manga gives us our introduction to Halkara and Beelzebub, two very promiment characters that light novel readers will be really familiar with.
First is Halkara, and it does not take long for her clumsy nature to become readily apparent. Particularly when she does some mushroom gathering with Azusa. Add in the fact that she is being pursued by the demon Beelzebub, and Azusa has quite a lot of trouble on her hands.

Of course, Halkara’s arrival also means we see the arrival of Beelzebub into the story. Much like everyone in the cast of this work, she is a fun character. Thanks to Halkara, she may not have the most favourable first impression, but she soon fits right in with everyone else.

Azusa and family also attend the wedding of Laika’s sister, which means getting involved with a whole bunch of dragons. Including some that are just there to disrupt the whole ceremony. Azusa tries to stay out of the feud between the dragons, but the instant her family is threatened… well, she goes full mama bear.
It is quite a sight to behold.

That is followed by a well deserved break at a hot spring inn.

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level is a fun experience, whether it is through the light novel or manga. Honestly, anything I’ve said about the light novel pretty much applies here, since they are telling the same story.
Azusa’s family has grown bigger with this volume of the manga, and there are plenty more experiences awaiting them in the future.
An enjoyable read.
