I’m sure that there are many anime fans out there who think of the spring 2020 season of anime as as complete write-off, and that’s fair enough. However, some shows that I chose to watch this season have been continuing on despite the ongoing pandemic.
As such, I shall be sharing my thoughts on the select few shows that are still going as we have passed the halfway point of this season.
A Certain Scientific Railgun T

A Certain Scientific Railgun T as been on and off during this season, but it managed to reach the conclusion of the Daihasei Festival Arc. Whilst I’m not too keen on how Misaka’s plot in that arc concluded, I did enjoy the heartwarming conclusion for Shokuhou’s part. Basically the same way I felt about the whole thing in the manga. Still enjoyable after three seasons, and there is still some more to look forward to – after a little while, though.
Kakushigoto

Watching Kakushi try to do is best for his daughter Hime whilst hiding the fact he is a mangaka provides some amusing situations in Kakushigoto, and the odd occasion we see Hime with her friends tends to be cute as well. However, we also get a glimpse of Hime’s future, and apparently all that comedy and cuteness is balanced out by what could potentially be a heart breaking event in Hime’s life – the details about it are being kept vague for now.
Still an enjoyable show, though.
Listeners
Listeners really isn’t doing anything special with its story, and I don’t particularly care about its characters. There are plenty of references to music I enjoy, but that doesn’t save it from being a forgettable experience. Since I’ve come this far, I’ll stick with Listeners until the end, but I won’t be recommending it to anybody.
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

Perhaps in any other season, I would have not picked up My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!. However, this season was pretty barebones to begin with, so I figured why not. I don’t regret picking it up at all, as it has been entertaining.
I don’t think that there is any way for My Next Life as a Villainess to end whilst satisfying all of its fans, so I guess I’m more here for the journey than the destination.
I’m cheering for the ladies to win Catarina’s heart, with Maria my top pick. Can’t ignore Mary’s fierce determination, though.
Has plenty of comedy going for it, too, which is always nice.
Princess Connect! Re: Dive

Princess Connect! Re: Dive is a show that I hadn’t initially planned on watching, but after it was recommended to me, I am glad I picked it up. It might just be the funniest show that is airing this season. There’s a lot of fun to be found here. Admittedly I’m mostly here for Pecorine and Karyl, as pictured above, but the other characters do have their charms.
TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls

Baseball is a sport that I don’t really know much about (I had to look up RBI, for example), but Tamayomi is presenting it in an enjoyable manner. The show may be named after Tamaki and Yomi, but I feel like the character contributing the most to the whole thing is Yoshino.
There’s a lot of fun interactions between the characters, with them playing off of each other really well. Baseball is very much at the forefront here, with episodes generally focusing on the team either improving themselves or playing their next game. Still, I’m having a fun time with this show.
And here’s the shows that I chose to watch this season, but are currently on hiatus:
– BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS
– Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater
– Healin’ Good ♡ PreCure
– One Piece
I really miss Healin’ Good ♡ PreCure…
But I’m sure that it, and the other shows, will be back on our screens before we know it. Just got to have a little patience.
So whilst this season may be a relatively quiet one – for obvious reasons – there are still a handful of shows that are pushing on and proving to be pretty enjoyable. My Next Life as a Villain and Princess Connect might just be tussling for the title of funniest show, and honestly, are probably my top picks along with Tamayomi for this season.
Not entirely sure how the summer season will look, but I’ll probably be doing this again halfway through. So, until then, stay safe.
