Thoughts on Our Wonderful Days Volume 2

Koharu, Mafuyu, Nanaya and Minori are back once again in the second volume of Kei Hamuro’s Our Wonderful Days. Things get pretty lively in this volume, as the four are joined by some familiar faces.
This volume contains chapters seven through to thirteen.

Living side-by-side with the one I love
High schoolers Nanaya and Minori are classmates, best friends, and roommates. Though the two are as different as night and day, they do just about everything together! But what drew them together in the first place? Find out in the second volume of the sweet slice-of-life yuri series, Our Wonderful Days!

In my thoughts on the first volume of Our Wonderful Days, I thought that Nanaya and Minori really stole the show. Turns out that they do the same in this second volume. Before getting to that point, though, we do get a chapter with what must be the entire cast interacting with each other.

Things get very lively with seven people squeezing into a single room, but it I think Kei Hamuro does a good job of having those scenes give off some really great positive vibes. Everyone is tending to certain tasks whilst interacting with each other, and it is just really nice.

Something else I also mentioned in my thoughts on the first volume was how it seemed like Koharu and Mafuyu were going to have something of a slow burn for their relationship. Seeing their interactions in this second volume has changed my mind on that. I feel that the pair are comparable to Sakurako and Kasumi from Futaribeya: A Room for Two, which is something I can certainly appreciate.

This volume gives us a yakiniku party, the four main characters just casually hanging out, a trip to a beach and Koharu sleeping over at Mafuyu’s place, but the most memorable thing to come from it has to be the focus on Nanaya and Minori.

We are given a glimpse into Minori’s past, in which her family has to come to terms with a certain tragic event. Seeing how the young Minori reacts to said event is heart-breaking. On the other hand, that event also plays a key role in shaping Minori and Nanaya’s relationship, which is incredibly heart-warming.

Our Wonderful Days continues to maintain the same quality that was present in its first volume, and provides some deeper insight into its characters which ultimately results in making them even more compelling.

I completely agree that, thus far, Minori and Nanaya have been totally stealing the show in Our Wonderful Days. They have such a great relationship and I loved reading the flashbacks to their earlier childhoods in this volume, it was so touching to see how Nanaya supported Minori during that difficult time.
