It probably won’t come as any surprise what my game of the month for November of 2019 is, as there has been quite a lot of commotion surrounding the particular game – ah, or games, I guess would be more accurate.
Not that I particularly care about any of that; if a new game is being released in a series I love, I’m most likely going to buy it.
Before that, though, there are a few honourable mentions.
To kick off, there are three games that get honourable mentions from me:
Dusk Diver – a fun anime action RPG set in Taipei.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 – Luigi has more ghosts to vacuum up as he explores a haunted high-rise hotel
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout – The newest entry in the Atelier series, and something about Ryza’s thighs. Oh, there’s a decent game in there, as well as some changes the battle and alchemy systems.
The games I shall be focusing on for this month are Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. More specifically, I am picking up Pokémon Sword; that was my initial decision when the games were first revealed, and I haven’t changed my mind since.
The eighth generation of Pokémon will hold a place close to my heart, as the Galar region where it is set is based on Britain – I’ll be exploring Game Freak’s take on my home country.
My starter? Sobble, of course – in all the games where a choice is presented, I shall always opt for the Water type Pokémon. The Pokémon revealed before release have all had great designs, and I am looking forward to encountering those I haven’t seen before as well as some familiar faces – a few baring new forms, too.
It is not just the Pokémon with great designs. I’ve always thought that the human characters in Pokémon have looked good, and with characters like Sonia, Nessa, Bea and Marnie, the eighth generation is continuing that trend.
Very much looking forward to getting to explore the Galar region, meeting plenty of new Pokémon and people along the way. It is going to be a great time.
I went with Pokémon Shield and I can’t wait to get home from work tonight so I can start playing. I’m going to pick Sobble as my starter too. He’s so cute!
