Spring 2019 Anime: What I Will Be Watching

As a new season bears down upon us, it is time for me to take a look at what will be airing and pick out the shows that I want to watch.
Aikatsu Friends!: Shining Jewel

The second season of Aikatsu Friends!, set two years after the first. Since I enjoyed the first season of Aikatsu Friends!, naturally I’d want to watch the second. The new characters introduced seem interesting, but I’m mostly just watching it so I can appreciate Aine’s fluffier hair.
Aikatsu Friends!: Shining Jewel starts airing on April 4th.

Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2

Attack on Titan‘s third season returns after taking a break, so I shall continue watching it as it airs.
Attack on Titan‘s third season resumes on April 28th.

Carole & Tuesday

An original story about two girls from different backgrounds meeting and wanting to make music together. Not entirely sure what to expect from it, but I shall give it a go since I do quite enjoy watching stories about musicians.
Carole & Tuesday starts on April 10th.

Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine

I generally don’t have much interest in baseball, but here I am ready to watch a baseball anime. Whilst I’m not familiar with the mobile game that this is adapted from, I do know one of the characters thanks to Virtual YouTuber Kizuna Ai.
At the moment, this is more of a ‘maybe’ then a definite watch for me. I’ll give it at least one episode and see how I feel about it.
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine starts on April 7th.

Hitoribocchi no ○○ Seikatsu

A slice of life story about a girl called Hitori Bocchi who suffers from extreme anxiety. Her only friend, Yawara Kai, goes to a different middle school and refuses to talk to Bocchi unless she befriends her new classmates.

Joshi Kausei

Another slice of life anime, but this one has no dialogue. It’s just pictures, sound effects and three high school girls during their daily lives. The no dialogue part in particular has got me curious about this one. Also worth mentioning that it is a short-form anime.
Joshi Kausei starts on April 6th.

Kiratto Pri☆Chan 2nd Season
Kiratto_Pri☆Chan_Second_SeasonThe second season of Kiratto Pri☆Chan, which means that Miracle Kiratts and Meltic StAr shall be returning once more. Of course, there will also be new characters appearing.

One Punch Man 2nd Season

Wow, we’ve only had PVs for the second season of One Punch Man, and people already hate it. It’s the animation quality that is the biggest issue people have with it. Madhouse done an absolutely stellar job with the first season. Unfortunately, it is not Madhouse that is producing the second season, but J.C. Staff.
Well, I won’t expect it to look as good as the first season, but I shall still be watching it.
One Punch Man 2nd Season starts on April 9th.

Strike Witches: 501st Unit, Taking Off!

Following in the footsteps of BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!☆Pico and Katana Maidens ~ Mini Toji, it is now Strike Witches‘ turn for a series of comedy shorts.
Strike Witches: 501st Unit, Taking Off! starts on April 9th.

That’s it. This upcoming spring season of anime looks like it will be a quieter one for me. I’m fine with that, it gives me a chance to really catch up on writing my manga and light novel reviews, as well as maybe putting out some more varied posts besides the episodic ones.

Oh, and here are the shows I shall be continuing to watch from prior seasons:

  • Fairy Tail Final Season
  • Fight League: Gear Gadget Generators
  • JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind
  • One Piece
  • Star ☆ Twinkle PreCure

In terms of episodic posts, I think I shall keep it simple and continue to focus on Star ☆ Twinkle PreCure. Considering I’ve also been covering Aikatsu Friends!, I’ll also keep that up as well with Aikatsu Friends!: The Shining Jewel. That’s it, though.

My most anticipated new show for the upcoming season of anime would have to be Hitoribocchi no ○○ Seikatsu, though I am very interested in seeing what Carole & Tuesday will give us.
This list isn’t set in concrete, either. I may pick up one or two more shows not mentioned here, or even drop something. We’ll just have to see.
