Spring 2018 Anime: What I Will Be Watching

As a new season of anime approaches, it’s about that time again for me to pick out the shows that I intend to watch.
Information is taken from LiveChart.me, and I will try to share PVs where possible.
Amanchu! Advance

The second season of Amanchu!. I thoroughly enjoyed the first, so naturally I am looking forward to the return of Pikari and Teko.
Amanchu! Advance is due to air from April 7th.

Comic Girls

Another cute girls doing cute things show in which the girls are all manga creators. I absolutely love this kind of thing, so that’s why it is being included here.
Comic Girls is due to air from April 5th.

Cutie Honey Universe

This is more of a curiosity for me than anything else, as I don’t really know what to expect. I’ll decide whether I’ll keep watching it or not after I’ve watched the first episode.
Cutie Honey Universe is due to air from April 8th.

Hisone to Masotan

This one involves the military and dragons. This is another curiosity for me, so once again I’ll decide whether or not I want to to keep watching it after the first episode.
Hisone to Masotan is due to air from April 12th.

Apparently a science-fiction comedy about pro sports bounty hunters fighting each other in sporting events. The show focuses on three women, Arigetti, Korupi and Sabina.
LadySpo will be a series of shorts, starting on April 9th.

Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat’s Mystery-Solving Files

I don’t know whether this will adapt the Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy story, or be a completely new story. Either way, the star is Katrielle Layton, daughter of Professor Layton.
This one is due to air from April 8th.

Lostorage conflated WIXOSS

More card games and despair. It seems that a whole bunch of familiar characters will gather together for this one.
Lostorage conflated WIXOSS will air from April 6th.

Love to Lie Angle

This is a yuri show, and that’s pretty much all I need to capture my interest. I’ll always try to watch yuri because you can never have enough. Unfortunately, this will be a series of shorts.
Love to Lie Angle will air from April 3rd.

Magical Girl Site

This is my most anticipated show of this season. Having read the manga, I know that it is not for the faint of heart – but if you can stomach it, then it is something I definitely recommend.
Magical Girl Site will air from April 6th.

My Hero Academia Season 3

My Hero Academia is a pretty good shonen show, and having more of it is a very good thing.
The 3rd season of My Hero Academia will air from April 7th.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online

I tried watching the original Sword Art Online before; it wasn’t for me. However, give it a female protagonist who hits it off with a ‘beautiful, brown skinned female player’, and my interest is certainly piqued. Even more so when this anime is being produced by 3Hz, the same studio that brought us FLIP FLAPPERS and Princess Principal.
Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online will air from April 7th.

Uma Musume: Pretty Derby

What if horses were anime girls? That’s the question that Uma Musume is answering. After all, everything must become anime girls.
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby will from April 1st.

I think that pretty much covers all the shows I have at least something of an interest in watching for the spring season of anime.
I will continue watching BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS, Hugtto! PreCure, Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko and One Piece.
You’ll notice that Dragon Ball Super is absent from that list. That is simply because it will be finished by the time the spring season starts. At least there’s the upcoming film to look forward to.

My most anticipated shows on this list are Magical Girl Site, Comic Girls, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online and Amanchu! Advance.

As for what I will be covering on my blog for the next season… well, definitely Magical Girl Site. That’s going to be some pretty dark content, but I’m still covering it regardless.
I’m very tempted to cover Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online because of 3Hz. My coverage of both Hugtto! PreCure and Katana Maidens ~ Toji No Miko will continue as well.

6 Responses to Spring 2018 Anime: What I Will Be Watching

  1. Karandi says:

It is going to be so hard to decide this spring. Between sequels to shows I like and some interesting new titles in the mix, plus the number of shows carrying over from Winter, it really is going to be a full season of viewing. Hopefully the sequels all deliver.

  2. OG-Man says:

As usual our watch lists are very similar. Hoping Gun Gale will be a favorable show for us to enjoy.

  3. cirno9fan says:

Have you given thought to going further down the jyoji (the term for shows like precure) hole, and giving Aikatsu! Friends a chance?

    • Rory says:

I hadn’t really considered it before, but I don’t see the harm in giving it a chance. I’ll add Aikatsu! Friends to my watch list.
