Episode 41 of KiraKira ☆ PreCure a la Mode is one that puts the focus on Ciel and her brother. As much as I like Ciel, my initial thoughts towards this episode were ‘let’s just get this out of the way as soon as possible’.
Did my opinion about it change after having watched it? Well, let’s take a look at the episode and find out.
So it seems that a fair few people are excited to see Pikario – or ‘Rio’, as they know him – to return after a long time. I’m not – didn’t really care for him before, and I still don’t. But, hey, at least Ciel gets to share the spotlight, so that is a plus.
Apparently nobody in Strawberry Hill bothers to lock their doors at night, and they seem to leave their food out as well. This makes it easy for someone to steal kira-kiraru, and since that someone happens to look like Pikario, Ciel’s place gets a few angry visitors the following morning.
With the people blaming Pikario for ruining their sweets and accusing him of being the one responsible for summoning the monsters that have been attacking lately, Bibury decides to make herself scarce. She’d rather not have anyone finding about what she did before.
She goes to KiraPati, where she tells them what has happened.
The KiraPati girls manage to catch up to Ciel, and see her telling the people to give her a chance to talk to her brother. She does that, whilst Ichika, Himari and Aoi chase after her. Yukari and Akira realise something is up, and they decide to investigate.
After that we get more Pikario angst, as he goes on about how the trouble he caused in the past won’t just go away. He runs off somewhere, and Himari asks Pekorin to keep an eye on him.
After that, the girls go back to KiraPati, where Chourou encourages Ciel to make some waffles.
Pekorin arrives after Ciel finishes making the waffles, and says that Pikario is going to leave Strawberry Hill.
Elsewhere, we see that Yukari and Akira’s investigation has turned up a lead.
The Pikario that had been running around town stealing kira-kiraru was actually a Nendo soldier.
Elisio appears before Ichika and the others. Ciel goes on ahead to catch up to Pikario, leaving the other three to confront him.
Whilst Whip, Custard and Gelato fight Elisio, Ciel catches up to Pikario. The two of them talk, leading to the resolution of their situation.
The battle against Elisio doesn’t go so well, with the arrival of Macaron and Chocolat not really helping. No, the battle’s tide can’t change until Ciel arrives.
The battle comes to an end fairly swiftly after the arrival of Cure Parfait, and it is brought to a close with the Fantastic Animale.
The episode ends with Pikario happier than he was before, and deciding to stay in Strawberry Town with his sister. The townspeople from earlier apologise, and Pikario makes waffles.
Well, this was certainly an episode of KiraKira ☆ PreCure a la Mode, I won’t deny that. It’s just one that didn’t really hold much appeal for me – I said before that I don’t care for Pikario, and this episode did nothing to change my mind on that. On the plus side, at least it is out of the way now.
We’re not that far from the finale of KiraKira ☆ PreCure a la Mode now, and it looks like we’ll be getting one final batch of episodes focusing on each of the main characters leading up to it.
I said before I would like to see something like that, and it seems that I have got my wish. The next character that will get the focus is Aoi, so I’m looking forward to the next episode.
