Autumn 2017 Anime: What I Will Be Watching

Huh, it was four years ago that I registered with WordPress. Well, guess I’ll celebrate that by continuing on as normal.
As the end of the summer season approaches, I figured it’s about time to look ahead and see what I will be watching during 2017’s final season of anime.
This list will be stuff that I am set on watching, no matter what. There are also a couple of shows that I’m currently on the fence about; I’ll mention those as well.
I’ll also include the premiere date for each show, though they may not be entirely accurate due to when streaming services show them or whatever. It’s just a general idea of when each show should start. I’ve used English titles where possible, though it’s worth nothing that the English titles may differ slightly from the ones I’ve used here.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at what I am looking forward to for the upcoming season.
Blend S

An adaptation of a manga series from the Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine – the very magazine that gave us K-On! and NEW GAME!. It is about a café where waitresses have to act according to a given attribute – and the main character’s attribute ends up being sadist.
A male yuri fan is also part of the cast. Being a male yuri fan myself, I’m interested to see how we get represented in anime.
Premieres: 7/10/17

Girls’ Last Tour

Girls’ Last Tour is simply an anime about two girls exploring a post-apocalyptic wasteland together on their motorbike.
Premiere: 6/10/17

Himouto! Umaru-chan R

The second season of Himouto! Umaru-chan. Since I quite enjoyed the first season, I will be watching this second one as well.
Premiere: 8/10/17

Kino’s Journey: The Beautiful World – The Animated Series

This will be my first experience of Kino’s Journey, but I read an interview with its creator where it was said that no prior knowledge is needed to enjoy this. As such, I’m eager to see where Kino’s journey leads.
Also, it has been confirmed that Crunchyroll will be streaming this anime.
Premiere: 6/10/17

Konohana Kitan

An anime about fox girls working at a hot spring inn. Of course, the story revolves around the newest employee, Yuzu. Being accustomed to living in the mountains, she has to adjust to working at a high class inn.
This anime may just be one of my most anticipated of the autumn season.
Premiere: 4/10/2017

Love Live! Sunshine!! 2nd Season

Aqours will return one more, and I am pretty hyped about it. I mean, technically they’ve never left me courtesy of Love Live! School Idol Festival, but it sure will be good to see them fully animated whilst interacting with each other again.
Premiere: 7/10/17

Two Car

The fact that I’ve shared a fair bit of news about Two Car on this very blog should probably clue you in that I am looking forward to it. It is an anime about motorcycle sidecar teams racing each other. Each team consists of two members, and it seems that there are generally contrasts between the team members’ personalities.
Premiere: 7/10/17

URAHARA

Now here’s an interesting thing: a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Chinese video sharing website Bilibili. When Tokyo’s famed Harajuku district is targeted to be destroyed, a trio of treasure-seeking girls step up to save the day.
Considering Crunchyroll is involved in the production, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that they will also be streaming it.
Premiere: 4/10/17

Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter

I recently rewatched Wake Up, Girls! in anticipation of this, and I was reminded that it was quite good. I’m looking forward to seeing WUG back in action once more. It will also be quite interesting to compare and contrast this with Love Live! Sunshine!! as both series focus on idols – though different types of idols, hence why it could lead to some interesting comparisons.
Premiere: 9/10/17

Yuki Yuna is a Hero: Hero Chapter

I love magical girl series, and Yuki Yuna is a Hero is one that I absolutely adore. Since I haven’t seen the films for this, this anime will be an all new experience for me.
Premiere: 6/10/2017

The above list covers everything I definitely intend to watch, but there are a couple of shows I am on the fence about. They are Anime-Gataris and UQ Holder! Mahou Sensei Negima! 2.
I’ll probably watch the first episode of both of them and make a decision. I don’t really know what to expect from Anime-Gataris, but I did start reading the UQ Holder manga a little while ago. Unfortunately I kind of stopped and lost track of where I got to, so I haven’t really returned to it.

As for what I’ll be covering… I don’t really know. Most likely are Konohana Kitan and Two Car, and I suppose Yuki Yuna is a Hero: Hero Chapter is in with a shout. I may not have covered the first season, but that was only because it aired before I started covering anime on a weekly basis.

I shall continue watching BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS, Dragon Ball Super, Fate/Apocrypha, KiraKira ☆ PreCure a la Mode and One Piece – all of which are continuing from previous seasons.
My coverage of KiraKira ☆ PreCure a la Mode will continue as normal, and you can definitely expect to see a post from me whenever Caulifla and Kale have a major role to play in Dragon Ball Super.

All right, let’s conclude this post with my most anticipated shows for the autumn. Love Live! Sunshine!! and Yuki Yuna is Hero are up there, though they have the advantage of being second seasons so I am already familiar with what they have to offer – and therefore I’ll know I’ll most likely enjoy them.
As for non-sequel stuff, my most anticipated shows would probably have to be Konohana Kitan, Girls’ Last Tour and Two Car.

With NEW GAME!!, Princess Principal and Symphogear AXZ, the summer season was arguably the peak of this year. I feel like the autumn season is taking it down a notch, but there’s still plenty to get excited about.
