Toei Animation’s website for the 14th entry in the PreCure franchise, Kirakira ☆ PreCure A La Mode has been updated with a fair bit of new information about the upcoming show.
We have a premiere date, a visual video, theme songs, new visuals and staff members. Most importantly, we also get to see what the newest group of Cures look like, as well as their names.
The theme for Kirakira ☆ PreCure A La Mode is a crossover between colourful sweets with cool and cute animals. The main characters run a sweets shop, and have to face off against evil fairies to protect their beloved sweets.
As you can see from the visuals above, we’ll be getting five Cures this time around. I guess this is a good point to introduce the new Cures.
Once again, we have a pink Cure as the lead – by this point, it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. It is something of a tradition, after all.
As you may have guessed by this point, there’s an animal motif going on with the Cures – we’ve had rabbit and squirrel so far.
Huh, apparently Aoi is a fan of rock music. Also, being the lion, it seems she possesses courage.
Oh, hey, a cat girl Cure. Well, that automatically makes Cure Macaron my favourite, in terms of design at least. That makes two feline Cures – no complaints from me.
It seems that Akira has a younger sister that she cares for. Certainly has a unique design too.
By the way, if any information on the characters is off, just let it be known that I copied the Japanese bios into Google translate and then tried to pick out anything that made sense.
That’s it for character introductions. The opening theme, ‘SHINE!! Kirakira ☆ PreCure a la Mode”, will be performed by Yuri Komagata. “Let’s La Cooking ☆ Showtime” is the name of the ending theme, which will be performed by Kanako Miyamoto.
Akira Taneka, Risa Endō and Yu Kaminoki (Go! Princess PreCure, Sailor Moon Crystal) will be producing the series. Series directors are Kōhei Kureta (One Piece Film Z assistant director) and Yukio Kaizawa (Digimon Frontier, Jigoku Sensei Nube director). Jin Tanaka (Go! Princess PreCure will be handling series composition.
Music will be composed by Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia, Death Parade) and the character designer is Marie Ino (Death Note, HeartCatch! PreCure key animator). Finally, cake designer and café owner Junko Fukuda will be the “sweets supervisor” for the series.
Kirakira ☆ PreCure A La Mode will start airing from February 5th 2017.
As for my thoughts on this… well, I certainly like the designs of the two older Cures. I’m indifferent towards the other three, though that can and probably will change once the opportunity to see them in action arises. As for the fairy… it gets itself a sort of nonchalant shrug of the shoulders from me. It’s not the most interesting design.
I will be watching Kirakira ☆ PreCure A La Mode when it starts, but as to whether I’ll be covering weekly or not… I’m not sure at the moment. It may depend on how the first episode plays out, but I’ll worry about that when the time comes.
Feel free to leave a comment sharing your thoughts on this new iteration of PreCure.
