In this episode of Maho Girls PreCure!, it’s back to the Magic World in order to prepare for a springtime summer break – and also for the Cures to finally meet their new foe.

Of course, Riko is just as eager as the others
After talking to the headmaster about the Emerald, the girls head out where they see the Magic Academy students preparing for the upcoming summer festival, despite it being spring year-round at the Magic Academy. When the girls realise Kotoha sticks out like a sore thumb in her normal clothes, she conjures up a new uniform.

Kotoha in uniform
Kotoha and Mofurun end up attracting a crowd of students, but a few familiar faces show up to get them back on task.

Kay (or Kei, but I’ll just go with the subs for now), Jun and Emily
Though Kotoha tells them that she is Haa, the girls don’t believe her – after all, this is the first time they’ve seen her in human form. After that, Mirai, Riko, Kotoha and Mofurun go to the Magic Academy’s dining hall.

The girls eat quite a bit in here
Whilst in the dining hall, Todd from the Merchant Alley shows up with a whole bunch of fresh fruit. However, he has been unable to grow any Sunshine Clementines to make Frozen Clementines.

This is important
Of course, something strange is happening – which involves a lot people looking directly at the sun. I wouldn’t recommend doing that, myself.

Cue ominous music…
We then see Rabu looking up at the sun, saying that his master needs to come down but isn’t his normal self yet…

Kotoha and Mofurun enjoy the Magic World’s beds

Meanwhile, Mirai talks to the headmaster at the Wand Tree
Mirai tells the headmaster that she has decided she will be with everyone forever, as she does not intend on experiencing a tearful goodbye. Of course, the enemy shows up almost immediately afterwards. Rabu introduces himself and then summons a new type of Yokubarl: a Donyokubarl.

A Donyokubarl – probably a Fire type going by the amount of explosions it causes
Rabu reveals that he doesn’t use magic, but instead ‘mugic’ (or ‘muhou’ instead of ‘mahou’ in Japanese).

Rabu trapped Mirai and the headmaster in a barrier

The power of the Emerald allows them to break through

With everyone reunited, transformation time
During the battle, Rabu reveals the name of his master.

He will descend from the heavens and stand upon the earth with his eternal hunger

Cure Miracle is having none of that

Felice and Magical won’t let Miracle take everything on by herself

Inspired by Miracle’s words, even the headmaster gets involved
The Cures are able to finish off the Donyokubarl, and Rabu retreats promising to put an end to them next time. The headmaster notes that the Emerald is still concealing its power…
So in this episode, we got a return to the Magic World, a new type of monster of the week and an introduction to the next big bad. The name ‘Deusmast’ suggests that this foe is some kind of deity. Seems like the Cures are going to have a quite a fearsome foe to deal with later on.
It’s great to see Mirai and the others back in the Magic World, as well as the characters from said world.
The fight against the Donyokubarl was pretty good, but that is usually the case. It’s also nice to see the headmaster get involved again, though a shield is something that any one of the Cures could have conjured up themselves.
Still, pretty great episode, and it’ll be interesting to see what else Rabu has in store for the Cures in the future.
Next time, we’re in for some fireworks.
Mirai never wants to be apart from her wifey and children ever again.
The Donyokubar should be a nice distraction until Deusmast’s arrival.
