Well, here’s a thing. There is a light novel series called Magical Girl Raising Project (or Mahou Shooujo Ikusei Keikaku), by Asari Endou. That series of light novels is getting an anime adaptation, as revealed on the official website and Twitter.
So the story involves a popular social game that rarely gives girls special powers to become real magical girls. However, in one district, sixteen girls have been granted power, which the administration deems as too many. Their solution? Have the sixteen girls fight in a survival race until only half of them are left.
Here’s the teaser PV:
…and here’s a visual:
The anime’s premiere is a vague ‘sometime in 2016’, and it will be directed by Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Is the Order a Rabbit?). The series composition writer is Takao Yoshioka (Your Lie in April, The Testament of Sister New Devil), and the studio producing the anime is Lerche (Assassination Classroom, SCHOOL-LIVE!).
I’m always up for more magical girl anime, particularly ones that should have a strong focus on action. I’m guessing Magical Girl Raising Project will – I’m sure those who are familiar with the light novels know. Still, this is something that I’m looking forward to.
Looks interesting but I need a more revealing trailer before deciding. I’ll most likely pick it up based on the plot summary.
Yeah, that PV doesn’t really give much away – still, I’m pretty much sold on the concept of ‘magical girl survival games’. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long until we get some more substantial information on this one, such as the cast and when it actually airs.
Precisely. Something like Akuma no Riddle with magical girls.
