It’s the end of the year, and thus the end of another season of anime. In this post, it’s time to look forward to what 2016 will bring us and what anime I plan to watch.
Information on the shows comes from AniChart.net and TV Tropes, so if titles or air dates are wrong, blame them. With that said, let’s get down to it, shall we?
Assassination Classroom Season 2
The almost indestructible Koro-sensei returns, with his class of potential assassins. I really enjoyed the first season, and look forward to seeing what the students will come up with to take down Koro-sensei.
The second season of Assassination Classroom is due to air starting from January 7th.
Fairy Tail Zero
This is a prequel spin-off of Fairy Tail, which focuses on Mavis Vermilion and the founding of the Fairy Tail guild. I’ve checked out the manga, and quite enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to this. It seems as if this will be airing instead of the next arc of Fairy Tail series 2. I’m guessing it will only be for the season – the manga was pretty short.
GATE Season 2
Though there are few elements of GATE that aren’t great, I do like the modern military in a medieval fantasy story going on. Also, one of the characters is called Rory, so yeah…
Koukaku no Pandora – Ghost Urn
An anime about cyborg girls by Ghost in the Shell creator Masamune Shirow – there’s a sentence that will get me immediately interested.
It is due to air from 8th January.
Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Ii Desu Kara (I’ve Had Enough of Being a Magical Girl)
I love me some magical girl shows, and this is one of them. It seems that the main character’s magical girl outfit is a swimsuit, rather than the traditional frilly dress. Don’t really know much else about this one.
Due to air from January 11th.
Mahou Tsukai PreCure (Mage PreCure)
The thirteenth season of Pretty Cure – it has quite an act to follow, considering the quality of Go! Princess PreCure. Still, gonna check it out. I’ll probably make a separate post for this after I know more about it.
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R
More magical girl shenanigans. This is a reboot of Nurse Witch Komugi, but I haven’t seen that so I don’t really know what to expect.
This has 12 episodes, which starts airing from January 9th.
Please tell me! GALKO-chan
Just when I though I was free from the short-form anime, this one comes along. Three female characters – a gal, an otaku and a high-class lass – talk together in a school setting.
A series of shorts due to air from January 8th.
Oh, and something a bit different – usually it’s not worth mentioning films as it takes some time for them to be released and subbed, but Crunchyroll has something nice for us next year;
Garakowa -Restore the World- will be available on their website on January 16th for users worldwide except Asia.
Maybe I’ll pick up other shows, I don’t know. For now, though, this is the stuff that interests me in terms of anime for the next season.
