Non Non Biyori Repeat is the second of season of Non Non Biyori, a slice-of-life anime adapted from the manga written by Atto. The review for the first season can be found here.
Both seasons are available on Crunchyroll.
Though Non Non Biyori Repeat is the second season, it’s episodes actually slot neatly between those seen in the first season chronologically. Season two’s episode one is set before the first season’s premier episode, and then you could easily alternate between the two seasons. Watching them one after the other is also fine.
Much like the first season, Repeat is just the everyday lives of the four main characters, as well as their friends and families. The countryside setting provides plenty of stunning scenery to marvel at.
Just like in the first season, Renge is very much the star of the show. Other characters do have their own focus, but Renge pretty much gets the best scenes. It’s not just humour we get from Renge’s scenes, either – her taking care of tadpole shrimp and learning to ride a bike are particularly memorable scenes.
Silent Suguru (the only male human character, in case you forgot) continues with the visual comedy, and the interaction between Kaede- sorry, “Candy Store” – and Renge is as nice as ever.
However, it seems as if Hotaru’s crush on Komari is barely even acknowledged in this season – she still has the numerous plushies, but that’s brought up once and then that’s it.
The comedy is great, and though Renge is the main source, the other characters get some particularly enjoyable moments.
Non Non Biyori Repeat is a worthy second season of the countryside slice-of-life series. With great visuals, characters and comedy, this is one that should definitely be watched.
