London Comic Con Summary

Well, after returning from the Comic Con on Saturday and recovering from carrying around bags full of stuff, I figured I’d share some stuff about it again, much like I did last time I went.

First off, I picked up new volumes of manga. I got K-On! College and K-On! High School, both of which I reckon should be adapted for anime. I also got the 9th volume of a A Certain Scientific Railgun, the 11th volume of Fairy Tail (I’ve got a lot of catching up to do with that one…), the 8th volume of Bamboo Blade and the 20th volume of Soul Eater. I also don’t have a lot of space for my collection of 144 volumes of manga…

I also picked up more anime DVDs. I got both parts of K-On! season 2 as well as K-On! The Movie, Bleach series 11 and both collections of Fate/Zero. Since I got Fate/Zero from the MVM stall, I also got a free poster featuring artwork by Masami Yuuki. Talking of DVDs, I also picked up Ashens and the Quest for the GameChild and got it signed by Ashens, as well as a GameChild t-shirt.

Other things I acquired were several packs of Pocky, Bleach playing cards, a Monster Hunter t-shirt and a Green Plesioth figure. I did try to pick up a Senran Kagura t-shirt, but they didn’t have any small or medium sizes left by the time I found my way back to the stall. However, the t-shirts are available on their website, so once I’ve put my leftover money back in the bank…

There are always panels at these events, and I sat in on a couple of them. First was the panel featuring the director and producer of Blue Exorcist The Movie, where they talked a bit about their work histories and answered a few questions.
Ashens had a panel about The Quest for the GameChild, and it seems that a sequel could happen if people buy the DVD and Blu-ray.

Manga UK made several announcements at the Comic Con, as well.

  • The Attack on Titan Blu-ray Collector’s Edition bonus DVD disc will include a making of featurette.
  • The Devil is a Part-Timer will be released on DVD and Blu-ray from 27th October.
  • The Princess and the Pilot film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray later this year.
  • The first nine One Piece films will be released as three triple DVD packs. Films 1-3 are due out on July 28. Films 4-6 are due out on September 8. Also, the eighth film will also have a standalone edition, due to it having a dub.
  • One Piece collections 9 to 12 will be released quarterly through 2015.
  • Hellsing Ultimate IX & X will definitely be released in the UK, though no dates were mentioned.
  • Naruto Shippuden Movie: Blood Prison will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on 22nd December (Same day as Attack on Titan part 2).
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 6th (A day after my birthday). The release will include 2 hours of extra material.

On Sunday, there was an Anime Industry panel. I wasn’t there, but plenty of people reported on it on the internet. MVM and Anime Limited confirmed several new acquisitions.
MVM

  • Kokoro Connect, DVD only
  • More Patlabor (six OAVs on Blu-ray and DVD)
  • The Garden of Sinners in October
  • Usagi Drop in 2015
  • Blast of Tempest
  • The Familiar of Zero series 3
  • Bodacious Space Pirates on Blu-ray

Anime Limited

  • Full Metal Panic! 1st and 2nd seasons on Blu-ray
  • Psychic School Wars

So yeah, I had a great time and am looking forward to doing it again in October.
