Spring 2014 Anime Season Impressions So Far

Well, I reckon we’re around halfway through with the summer 2014 anime season. For that reason, I shall be sharing my brief opinions on the shows I have been watching.

Blade & Soul
This one has been fairly interesting so far, in my opinion. Alka doesn’t seem to talk much, but she is certainly capable of holding her own in a fight. I’m looking forward to learning more about her, and the antagonist Jin Varrel.

Fairy Tail
Picks up from where the previous anime finished, in the latter half of the Grand Magic Games arc. I’m sure this will be a long runner, and there are certainly some epic fights waiting to be animated. My favourite character, Wendy Marvell, gets a particularly epic one during the Tartaros arc.

Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san
When I read that this was adapted from a yuri 4-koma, I thought I would get something that was just mostly comedy. I was wrong, fortunately. Each episode may only be less than 5 minutes long, but I enjoyed each one immensely so far.

Is the Order a Rabbit?
This is very much the ‘cute girls doing cute things’ anime that we seem to get at least one of every season. I have enjoyed what I’ve seen so far, but I believe both Non Non Biyori and Kiniro Mosaic are better.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders
This is my first time experiencing the world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. I know this is the third part of the entire series, which introduced the ‘Stands’. It makes for some interesting battles.

Magica Wars
This is a series of shorts focusing on magical girl personifications of the Japanese prefectures. It seems that each character gets three episodes dedicated to them. This one is something of a novelty.

Riddle Story of Devil
I love this anime. Definitely my favourite of this season. I’m looking forward to seeing how Tokaku and Haru’s relationship grows, as well as watching Tokaku take on the other assassins that attempt are going after Haru.

Soul Eater Not!
This anime is fun to watch. Watching the transition from manga to anime is great, and the appearances of the characters from Soul Eater are great. The relationship between Tsugumi, Meme and Anya is great. I also enjoyed learning more about the partnership between Kim and Jacqueline.

About Rory

I enjoy writing, manga, anime and video games, so naturally here on my blog, you will find anime reviews, Nintendo news and other such things that I deem interesting.
