My Wii U Game of the Month for March is a title that is available through the eShop. The game is part of the Year of Luigi, and was released during January. Since the Year of Luigi is coming to an end this month, it was on sale.
The game is Dr. Luigi, which is basically just Dr. Mario but starring Mario’s brother. There are four game modes available in the game: Retro Remedy, Operation L, Germ Buster and Online Battle.
Retro Remedy is the traditional Dr. Mario gameplay, where you have to clear red, blue and yellow viruses from by matching coloured capsules to them.
Operation L plays the same as Retro Remedy, but uses L-shaped capsules instead of the traditional ones.
Germ Buster uses normal shaped capsules, with everything controlled on the Wii U GamePad’s touch screen.
Online Battle allows players to compete against each other online (obviously…).
To me, Dr. Mario stands alongside Tetris as one of the best puzzle games of all time. Of course, this is technically Dr. Luigi, but it’s the same thing when it comes down to it.
So it’s Dr Mario with a coat of green paint. Sounds good to me!
